When you visit Canterbury you enter a world of Thomas Becket, Christopher Marlowe, Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales and of course the Plum Pudding Riots, when in 1647 the Mayor of Canterbury dared to try and cancel Christmas.
Add Rupert Bear into the mix and you begin to discover a City full of history and charm!
The Christmas Market covers the streets of the City where you can find over 60 huts inspired by traditional German Christmas markets. Featuring a variety of stalls where you can enjoy crafts from both local traders and further afield.
There’s plenty of choice when it comes to food and drink at the market. You’ll find chalets selling festive favourites such as, mulled wine, bratwurst, hog roasts and fresh gingerbread.
If you would prefer to explore the City there are a number of traditional stores and high-street shops where you can finish off your Christmas shopping!
Canterbury Cathedral is also open to if you would like to visit England’s first Cathedral. (admission is by your own arrangement and cost)
