With Champagne + Fromage already popping corks in Covent Garden, Greenwich and Bath, the unique artisan bistro and deli that specialises in award-winning grower Champagne and French cheese has now launched in The Wellington Hotel on the Isle of Wight

Fizzy flutes and French fromage are perfect partners and it’s no surprise that Ventnor’s beautiful 16th Century, 24-room boutique property The Wellington Hotel, has gained a little bit more sparkle

Nestled on the edge of Ventnor Bay fizz fiends are flocking – drawn to its stunning sea-view terrace, soft Parisian beats and beautiful brocante style furniture, it’s the perfect sun trap to sip bubbles in style

This neighbourhood haunt is dedicated to serving rustic fare and fizz the French way, Champagne + Fromage lays bare the beauty in fine-quality, limited-production grower Champagnes sourced from French Bubbles

Varieties carefully selected from the smallest award-winning producers – and affectionately known as ‘farmer fizz’ – are made solely from the grapes of individually owned vineyards, as opposed to the Champagne powerhouses that blend grapes from a variety of vineyards and have one generic taste

Each bottle comprises of characteristics unique to the soil and climate, telling a story of terroir and the winemaker, and ensuring the crème de la cork is popped each and every time

With plenty of award-winning varieties on the menu, bubbles come by the bottle, in half-bottles and by the glass and can be enjoyed on the terrace in the restaurant or with a little more privacy in the comfort of your hotel room

Favourites include Michel Furdyna Carte Blanche and Le Gallais Cuvee des Cedres Brut Nature, and the cocktail range includes classics such as a French 75 (Champagne, Gin, Lemon) to a Bulles Peche (Vodka, Peach, Lemon, Champagne) and of course a traditional Bellini (Champagne, Peach Puree)

Guests can also enjoy an Old Fashioned, Negroni and the house special The Wellington Martini (Vanilla Vodka, Passion Fruit Liqueur, Chambord Raspberry Liqueur, Passion Fruit and Lime Juice) as well as bottled beer, cider and soft drinks

A ‘Champagne of the Month’ is also carefully selected to offer the best tipple all year round

The authentic French menu includes cheese and charcuterie boards, tartines, fresh salads, baked cheeses, seasonal specials and a selection of indulgent desserts

The menu will also highlight the coastal location with Ventnor Bay crab, oysters and a seafood platter as well as garlic and chilli prawns

Classic Champagne & Fromage dishes will also feature from a wild boar terrine to figs & thyme Camembert, raclette & cured meat or truffle and a creamy fondue for two to share

Open for lunch all day and supper, guests can enjoy post-dinner drinks with a glass of Ratafia Champenois, a still, sweet digestif made from Champagne grapes

The terrace makes an ideal spot for a glass of bubbly as the night draws in (last orders at 10.00pm), perhaps the perfect place to enjoy a nightcap after a moonlight walk along the beach

Champagne & Fromage will offer room service to the 24 hotel bedrooms and is available for exclusive private hire

In the future, the hotel will provide Champagne & Fromage picnic hampers and boat hampers for guests to enjoy on the beach or on their boats with a tailored selection of food and fizz

In addition, well behaved four legged friends are also welcome

A range of events will also be gradually introduced with the first Champagne Tasting taking place on the 11th July.
Guests will be able to taste three Champagnes paired with three artisanal French cheeses for £40.00 and a baked Camembert to finish, these can be booked via the hotel

Cutting through the industry jargon like a cheese knife through brie, the events teach guests how to get to grips with grapes, how to pair cheese and Champagne, and the difference between regions, producers and production techniques

And the best bit? All masterclasses are practical, ensuring theory is supported with plenty of food and fizz

Interactive blind-tastings, meanwhile, are great for team building and provide the perfect present for those who appreciate the finer things in France
