About this deal

The Adult Community Learning Service provides educational opportunities for adults of all abilities, aged 19 plus

Whether its Art & Craft courses for personal interest and wellbeing, qualifications in English, Maths and IT, to help prepare you for employment or to progress further in your career, or Family Learning courses, where you can learn alongside your children, we can help

  • Art, craft and well-being subjects for personal interest and enjoyment or creative stimulation, which have proven benefits on physical and mental health and social well-being
  • Adult Skills qualifications to prepare for employment, self-employment or further training. Courses include specialist functional skills qualifications in English and Maths and employment skills
  • Computer Skills ranging from ‘Computers for Beginners’, to ECDL qualifications at level 1 & 2 in word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software. Additionally short workshops introduce topics such as computer maintenance, social media, digital photography and editing
  • Family Learning courses where adults get to learn alongside their children. These include craft activities, supporting children with their homework, parenting skills including communicating and family relationships, developing independence and managing stress
  • Foundation programmes delivered in partnership with voluntary sector organisations include Bodster Equine Assisted Learning Centre, The New Carnival Company, Inspired, Magpie Arts and Footprint Trust. Recent examples include accredited learning opportunities for young adults with disabilities, self-awareness and personal confidence, volunteering to support community events, employment support and supporting those recovering from mental ill-health.
