The Isle of Wight Mountain Bike Centre was set up in 2011 following the Island Games.

The centre based – at Cheverton Farm near Shorwell – came into new ownership in 2017 and underwent a huge redevelopment.

Since then the network of purpose built trails has expanded and now offers something exciting for all ages and abilities.

Most trail centres or bike parks are either a distance loop with climbs and descents and one path that runs a certain distance or have one hill/mountain that allows riders to ride down by pushing up or getting an uplift to the top of the hill.

The Isle of Wight Mountain Bike Centre is creating a hybrid of the two using the multiple hills across the farmland.

You will discover:

• Technical trails with wooden roll ins, roots, tree stumps, loam & more
• Jump trails with sizeable table tops, shark fin berms, drops & step downs
• Flow trails with endless fun corners & rollers to gain speed & have fun on

The trails include:

• Green Loop (3.5 km) – new for 2022 is a green loop with easy features & all weather surface. This is the perfect family trail & great way to see some of the natural beauty of the farm land the centre is based on
• Blue Loop (9km) – new for 2022 season is a blue loop with an all weather surface on all decants & climbs. The final descent – Twisted Wizard – has the longest decent at the centre…expect rollers, berms & small jumps. This trail is great fun for all abilities. Everyone can find enjoyment in this trail whether it’s your first time or you have been riding your whole life
• Red Loop (4km addition of the blue loop) – the red loop is a lot more natural & will test even the fittest of riders. This is a great add on from the blue loop if you’re looking to get your cross country fix. A super fast decent down Phumf Tu Barb is waiting for you at the end of the loop

The site also boasts a car park, toilets, hot food and drink, bike wash, tuck shop, bike shop and mechanic.
