Isle of Wight Mushrooms are famed for growing delicious, exotic mushroom varieties right here in the heart of the Arreton Valley.
The company was set up in 2019 by Jeff MacDonald, founder of well known local business The Tomato Stall. He was joined in 2020 by Alex Kent who brought his years of experience in mushroom
They grow their mushrooms in the most natural way possible with the aim of having the least impact on the environment.
They are growing five varieties of exotic, gourmet oyster mushrooms which are beautiful and unusual with great depth of flavour.
We are delighted to be working with them for the very first time.
Jeff and Alex believe exotic mushrooms have always been star performers not least by offering better flavour and a highly nutritional benefit to your diet compared to your average button mushroom.
As a launch deal we are showcasing their Grow Your Own Oyster Mushroom Kit.
This easy-to-use kit offers customers the opportunity to not only see and learn how mushrooms develop but also to get a crop of fresh, unique mushrooms to enjoy.
* Grow Your Own Oyster Mushroom Kit direct to your door – deal price £17.50
Each boxed kit comes with simple to understand instructions. Your mushrooms will ideally grow inside in a temperature of 16-18°C
Once grown, simply harvest your mushrooms then repeat the process for a second & maybe third time.
After you pick your mushrooms, if you wish, you can move your grow kit outside into a shaded spot and wait for more (worms love the substrate if you bury it).
Enjoy your mushrooms by trimming the base free of substrate and cooking to your taste – really browning them intensifies the natural great flavour of oysters.
The company use only natural materials in their packaging and plastic only where there is no other choice available.
Get those green fingers working during lockdown and grow your own.
