Quinta Da Llama – meaning Llama Farm – offer llama trekking, experiences and breeding on the Island.
The business was set up by Simon and Rosa Hill in 2016 after a trip to Kaiser Hof in the South Tyrol, Italy. They fell in love with llamas during a trek and decided to purchase some.
They are wonderfully good-natured creatures with a funny personality and are constantly inquisitive.
Quinta Da Llama offers treks around the village of Shalfleet – however they also do ‘Pop-Up’ llama experiences at other locations around the Island, or you can hire the llamas for film, TV, weddings, children parties, summer fetes, or corporate events.
All of the llamas are the woolly type known as Tampuli or Suri with the their ‘dreadlock’ fleece, and have genetic lines tracing back to Peru, Chile and Argentina.

Adult walks take a little longer and take in more of the beautiful Island scenery. Each trek will be about 90 minutes.
Llamas are bred for trekking, and all these llamas come from bloodlines that have always been around people, and will happily walk beside you, peacefully accepting your commands without any fuss.
You can’t ride llamas but they will carry your pack whilst you enjoy your trek.
After a talk about llamas and how to handle your new walking companion you will be invited to give them a brush. Not only does it help you get acquainted but it also ensures they are looking their best on the day.
During your trek you will get to learn all about these intriguing animals.
Walks are a relaxed, enjoyable experience, suitable for anyone over the age of ten but accompanied younger ones are welcome. You can even dress up in traditional Peruvian costumes!
You should be reasonably fit as you’ll need to be capable of walking for up to an hour at a steady pace on uneven ground. Walking shoes or wellies are sensible
