The Hambrough is excited to announce a new kitchen team at The Hambrough Restaurant.

Talented chef Curtis Elphick is joining as Head Chef.

Hailing originally from Ventnor with a solid background in the kitchen he began his training as a Commis at The Royal, moving on to The Hillside where he was thrown in at the deep end and learnt all aspects of the kitchen.

This was followed with gaining experience at some of the Island’s gastropubs which then confirmed the realisation that his real passion was for fine dining.

With this in mind he was lucky enough to secure the position as the Chef on the private 40m superyacht “Living the Dream” where he spent the summer travelling the world preparing a wide array of international cuisines for the owners and their guests.

Back on the Island, just at the right time, by chance the position came up as Head Chef at The Hambrough Restaurant.

Still carrying on with the tradition of fine dining at the heart of The Hambrough’s philosophy, Curtis is excited to be introducing menus which will be keenly priced to attract a local and visitor following and will be offering bar snacks to entice guests into the gorgeous Hambrough Lounge and Cocktail Bar and Secret Garden during the summer months.

Curtis told TPIW: “I have a real passion for cooking food. I love how the right combination of ingredients and creative plating techniques can produce such an amazing piece of art, not only for your eyes.

“With a creative approach, a tuned palette and a keen eye for detail a chef can produce mastery on a plate. But all of the above is wasted if the chef doesn’t cook with passion.

“My desire to amaze every guest that comes in to experience my food is what drives my passion and ambition to be great at what I do.

“I have a very authentic approach when it comes to creating my dishes. I like to be original and imaginative. I have crazy ideas and inspiration which I always note down, then later put to work and fine tune in hope of pleasing the most fastidious palettes.

“I’ve worked very hard over the years to get to where I am now and it’s exciting to start a new chapter with the Hambrough team. Let’s cook!”
